Reconeyez Launches an Instant Activation Service

Instant Activation Service (IAS) enables its users an instant outward/push connectivity from the Reconeyez Cloud to your deployed Reconeyez systems. IAS allows you to send instant arming/disarming commands to the devices on the field and request a live snapshot of the area whenever needed.

Key benefits of IAS today and in the future

  •  IAS provides the ability to instantly arm and disarm a site by pushing the arming instruction to the bridge rather than waiting for an activation or routine check. Via IAS the SMS instruction transmission from the cloud service pushes the arm/disarm instruction directly to site whenever you want/need to.

Currently with the standard set up, the arming function relies on either the routine check being received, or an activation on site creating a connection to the cloud service to activate an arm/disarm function.

  • In the future Reconeyez will develop additional functionality under the IAS umbrella. For example, we are at the initial stages of an ‘instant live snapshot’ capability deployed through this platform. This will allow IAS users to take a picture onsite from any detector whenever you need to. We will provide more details on other functionality as things develop.

How does IAS work?

If you arm or disarm the devices, you previously had to wait until the next bridge wake up, or a routine check arrived (60 min by default) or until some alarms arrived for the new change to be received by devices.

From now on, the changes made take effect in a matter of minutes. In the case of an Instant Activation Service feature, it checks whether a connection already exists, if so, an ARM/ DISARM command is sent to the device. If there is no connection, an SMS will be sent to the device to wake up the bridge. When the connection is established, a command is sent immediately. This is especially useful when used in conjunction with the ArmIt app.

Pricing

As the service is based on SMS technology, an inherent cost is involved for running this service. For those bridges that are updated with the IAS Firmware and where IAS has been enabled, a monthly fee is billed equivalent to the same amount as your detector monthly fee.

There are some restrictions on the service based on the number of SMSes sent each month. The service operates a ‘fair usage’ policy so we may come back to you if your use is extremely heavy, however there is a generous 120 SMSes per month allocation per bridge for the service. We believe this should enable all the instant changes to be implemented in all but the most extreme environments.

How to activate IAS?

If you choose to opt-in to the IAS service, please activate IAS from the bridge detailed view after logging in to User Interface.

You can see devices where IAS is enabled from the device table (filter IAS enabled).

NB! Before enabling IAS, please make sure that your SIM card and firmware prerequisites for IAS are met:

  1. SMS: inbound and outbound, enabled internationally.
  2. Voice calls: inbound only, enabled internationally.
  3. Works only with bridge Firmware versions starting from 7.7.0 (4G hardware version) and 7.6.1 (3G hardware version).

All other bridges will continue to function normally with their current level of Firmware.
